What’s to do around Parsippany?
Whether visiting or moving here, there’s plenty to see in this
area. Naturalists can hike the Great Swamp; amateur rockhounds can explore
the Franklin Mines. Small children are enthralled by the animals at
Fosterfields or the Turtleback Zoo. A number of restored excursion
trains are within an easy drive – at Whippany and Flemington, to name a
few. History buffs will enjoy Morristown’s rich Revolutionary past
– only 10 minutes by car. Edison’s laboratories are open to the public
and barely 15 minutes away. There is an abundance of regional
theater – whether at the countless local colleges, the renowned Paper Mill
Playhouse, or at Parsippany’s own community theater. For sports fans,
ski slopes are about 35 minutes away, in Sussex County; in the summer, one
can take in minor league baseball in Newark, Montclair and Sussex.
And, of course – let’s not forget the Meadowlands Sports Complex – about
25 minutes by car.

Whippany Railway Museum – The Museum itself is closed,
but there are large trains currently being restored by various train enthusiast
groups in the area. Located on Rt. 10 and Whippany Rd.
Lincoln Park Airport – This small airport, located in
Lincoln Park, is open to the public, and the perfect spot for the child
who can’t get enough of Jay-Jay the Jet Plane. Best bet is to go on Sunday
when planes are taking off and landing regularly.
